SchoolMessenger Joplin Rebuilding Fund

The tornado that struck Joplin on May 22, 2011 took lives, destroyed homes and disrupted livelihoods. Families are beginning the long process of rebuilding.

As a major employer in the region for more than 10 years, SchoolMessenger is an established part of the community. To help those in the extended SchoolMessenger family affected by this tragic event, the company has created the SchoolMessenger Joplin Rebuilding Fund.

All funds go directly to the SchoolMessenger employees, their extended families and the members of the broader community most affected by the May 22 tornado.

Partnership with Bright Futures

Bright Futures

SchoolMessenger has partnered with the Joplin School District's Bright Futures organization. As one measure of support in this partnership, SchoolMessenger has adopted the city's entire incoming kindergarten class.

SchoolMessenger's donation of $25,000 will go directly to provide more than 600 students with the supplies they need as they start their first day of their very first year of school.

Ongoing Activities of the Rebuilding Fund

Below is a list of ongoing activities of the SchoolMessenger Joplin Rebuilding Fund:

  • Community Ambassadors - SchoolMessenger team members championing direct-action projects such as providing supplies and preparing meals
  • Sponsored Volunteers - Funding of those who are dedicating themselves full time to the rebuilding effort
  • Support for Joplin School District to continue operations
  • SchoolMessenger team members traveling in from outside Joplin to volunteer
  • Direct funding for those displaced
